7 places to visit in Jeddah this autumn
From the Corniche and King Fahd's Fountain to the old souqs of Historic Jeddah, seven places to see as the evenings cool down, as listed by Visit Saudi.
As the evenings cool, Jeddah's seafront and its historic quarter are at their best. These seven places mix the Red Sea coast with the old city of Al Balad, with details from Visit Saudi, the Saudi Tourism Authority's official site. Light rain is forecast on and off along the coast this week, so check the weather before an evening out.
1. Jeddah Corniche: the long coastal stretch with Red Sea views, sunset walks, public art, parks and space for families.
2. Jeddah Art Promenade: a seaside walk where outdoor art meets views of the water, lit up and lively after dark.
3. King Fahd's Fountain: one of the tallest fountains in the world, shooting out of the sea off the Corniche. It is best seen at night.
4. Beit Nassif: a landmark house in Historic Jeddah that was once the residence of King Abdulaziz. Inside are grand rooms and artefacts, and outside its famous neem tree.
5. Souq Al Alawi: one of Jeddah's oldest bazaars, with roots in the pilgrim trade. It sells Arabian jewellery, incense, spices and traditional remedies.
6. Souq Qabil: one of the city's oldest business districts, a market of historic shops in the heart of Al Balad.
7. Fakieh Aquarium: an aquarium on the coast with a wide range of marine life, made for a family visit.
