Disney+ rolls out new app in Saudi Arabia with Saudi-dialect Toy Story 5
The redesigned Disney+ app is now live in the Kingdom with a kids' area, stronger parental controls and viewing while travelling. Toy Story 5 is the first Disney film dubbed in the Saudi dialect.
Disney+ has launched its new app in Saudi Arabia as part of a rollout across the Middle East and North Africa that began on the evening of 6 October. Existing subscribers download the new app and sign in with the same account, then follow the on-screen steps to confirm the account and set up profiles.
The app has a new home page with recommendations that adjust to what each profile watches and to what is popular locally. A children's area called Kids' World gathers content chosen for younger viewers. Parental controls include profiles locked with a PIN, content rating limits and alerts when a profile is changed. Dubbing and subtitles are offered in up to 25 languages, and subscribers can keep watching while travelling in supported markets such as Europe and the United States. Disney has not confirmed offline downloads.
The launch title is Pixar's Toy Story 5, available since 6 October in a Saudi-dialect dub, the first for a Disney film. Ibrahim Alkhairallah voices Buzz Lightyear, Suhaib Quddus voices Woody and Reem Alhabib voices Jessie, alongside a group of Saudi content creators.
Okaz reports that subscriptions start at about SAR 10 a month and can be cancelled at any time. The full list of plans and supported devices was not published, so check the app for current prices.
