A young Mongolian saker falcon fetched SAR 1.4 million at the Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition, a record for its Mongolian falcons auction, Arab News reported.

A juvenile Mongolian saker falcon sold for SAR 1.4 million, about 373,000 US dollars, at the Mongolian falcons auction of the International Saudi Falcons and Hunting Exhibition in Malham, north of Riyadh, Arab News reported. The paper said it was a record for that auction.

The bird was the third of three young sakers offered on the auction's fifth night. Bidding on it opened at SAR 100,000. The first two went for SAR 151,000 and SAR 100,000, bringing the night's total to SAR 1.651 million.

The exhibition, organised by the National Center for Falcons, closed on 10 October after ten days. For comparison, Arab News said two sakers sold for a combined SAR 245,000 at the opening auction of last year's edition.
