Home barbering needs its own Balady permit, the Ministry of Municipalities says
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has set out the hygiene rules for men's barbershops and says barbering at a customer's home needs its own permit through Balady.
The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing has reminded men's barbershops of the health rules they must follow, and said that offering barbering services at home, outside the shop, needs a dedicated permit through the Balady platform.
Under the rules, every barber must hold a valid health certificate and keep to personal hygiene before and during each service. Reusable tools must be cleaned, disinfected and sterilised after every customer, single-use tools thrown away straight after use, and the shop and its equipment cleaned and sterilised regularly. The ministry said the aim is to protect customers' health, raise the quality of the service and give shop owners clear requirements, so that they comply before any penalties are applied.
For customers, this means you can expect fresh single-use blades and sterilised tools at any licensed barbershop. If you book a barber to come to your home, the service should be run by a licensed shop holding the home-service permit on Balady (balady.gov.sa). Shop owners who want to offer home visits apply for that permit on the same platform.
