Saudi Arabia and Bahrain launched the second phase of the single-point crossing initiative on the King Fahd Causeway on Thursday. The phase was inaugurated by the interior ministers of the two countries.
The initiative is meant to simplify passenger procedures and ease traffic on the bridge that links the Eastern Province with Bahrain. Details of how the new phase changes each step for travellers have not yet been published.
More than 90,000 people use the causeway every day, and it carried over 33 million passengers in 2025. Travellers planning a crossing should check the causeway authority's channels for updated instructions.
